From: Andy on 10 Dec 2009 03:39 Today I went into Aldi to buy an 8GB USB Drive which is in their current catalog and on special, starting today. I was in the store 90 mins after opening time. There were no USB Drives and I was told that all had been sold out by the time I got there. Funny! If they were such a hot item then why weren't there more people in the store asking for them. I spoke with Consumer Affairs who told me that Aldi were using "bait advertising' which was illegal. They advised me to go back to the store and demand Aldi obtain the article for me within a reasonable time, which I did. This time I received an apoplogy and Aldi were going to ring around their other stores to search out the item and have it sent to their store. They will contact me tomorrow and advise when the item will be there.

Electronic goods that they sell don't seem to be reliable in the long term anyway.

Everone knows by now that you have to be there at opening time! I got there at 5 past 9 one Thursday and they had already sold out! There is usually a que at opening time on a Thursday. > There were no USB Drives and I was told that all had been sold out by the > time I got there. > Funny! The rest know not to bother. > I spoke with Consumer Affairs who told me that Aldi were using "bait > advertising' which was illegal. > They advised me to go back to the store and demand Aldi obtain the article > for me within a reasonable time, which I did. > This time I received an apoplogy and Aldi were going to ring around their > other stores to search out the item and have it sent to their store. > They will contact me tomorrow and advise when the item will be there. You will get one if someone returns one. IME they do not get more from their suppliers since it is usually done as a special deal for a fixed number. Some of their lesser specials are a different matter however. BTW just how cheap was the flash drive, they are so cheap now elsewhere, I can't see why you are so worried? ($21 at MSY for example) I wouldn't waste my time for a couple of dollars, when companies like Jetstar regularly defraud customers for hundreds and get away with it! And don't expect the DFT to help if Aldi ignores you in any case. Been there, done that with Jetstar and Coles where I had already paid money, you aren't even out of pocket from what I read! MrT. |
