From: SMS on 10 Nov 2009 12:33 I logged onto my old Countrywide money market account which is now at BofA to transfer some money to my checking account at another bank. There use to be no charge for transfers, now they charge $3 or $10 based on the speed of the transfer. They also require that you sign up for some sort of new service if you want to transfer amounts over a certain amount (I think $1000) and you have to buy some sort of a electronic device for $19.95 that authorizes each transfer or have text messages sent to your cell phone. I went to a local branch to close the money market account and get a cashier's check and that took an hour and a lot of hassle as BofA has not really integrated the Countrywide accounts into their systems. They needed a signature card faxed to them from somewhere, then they said they couldn't find the signature card, and they kept asking me for an ATM card which I never got with the money market of course, and then they started asking me all these strange questions about the account. Finally they let me log into the account from a computer at the bank so I could prove that it was my account, then they gave me the check. They made me feel like some kind of criminal for wanting to get my own money. Good riddance to BofA.
