First day in a new office and nicking the companies facilities for
sending mail then making a claim to RM ?? Not a good idea ...I
think the Op should just forget it and use the P.O. in future .

I was corresponding with the buyer at some length on very friendly terms
- he shares my interest in old classic Jap bikes, so I really doubt
this.

The proof of posting is the docket number or OBA order number.

You *CAN* claim for lost/damaged business mail.
