No, he doesn't appear to speak English so didn't get into a discussion with him. I asked in English and got no reply so sent the same question again after a Google translation and he just said "Versand nur Deutschland" (Shipping only Germany)

That would be a lot easier and respected by others. That's almost as bad as someone asking you something in a foreign language - no wonder he was confused. Make the effort and it will get you a lot further.
