Cafeterias and restaurants do this too. Large amounts of edible, unsold
food gets thrown in the trash instead of donated to some organization
that wants to feed the homeless. I worked in an office complex with a
cafeteria and saw this going on everyday. WHY? They were afraid of
getting sued if some homeless person got sick and claimed the food was
spoiled.
