The original pc will have had an OS pre-installed, the surplus-to-requirement CD is probably sealed and never been used. For example, on my Vista Home Premium 64-bit DVD sat here (sealed and available for a tenner delivered if anyone's interested!) it says "Use this DVD only to reinstall the operating system on a Dell pc".........doesn't say anything about using it only on the pc with which it was shipped?
