I'm looking for a simple 1-hour lamp timer with a twist-knob like
you'd find on a bathroom fan timer. Checked at Lowes and Home Depot,
no luck. Is there something like this available?

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

Why not just get a 24 hour timer, set it for 1PM, and when you want to
use it, twist it to noon?

Hmm... I bought a one hour timer exactly as you describe to replace a
light switch. (So the kids wouldn't have to remember to turn off the
bathroom light.) I found it at Home Depot among the regular light
switches. With one of those and a switch box, you could make what you
want.

That's what I use in my bathrooms for the exhaust fans. Set 'em and forget 'em.
