From: johannes on 17 Jan 2010 06:00 Lidl sell smoked German cheese reduced from 2.99 to 0.99. However, there was recently a food scare about smoked flavour. Should I eat it? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8448184.stm

There are so many scares that people would be afraid to live or even go out if they believed everything. Whatever next? I will be going to buy some if it is reduced, I also like their potato salad. The German foods do seem to be of better quality. All we have in the UK now is companies taking out salt saying it is better for us - what they really mean is that is saves them a fortune not adding it. All the other additives like emulsifiers should be removed so you can see the fat floating on the food you buy!

Estimated savings from taking out salt from a sandwich would amount to 0.00000001. How do you think they get around throwing salt on the roads? The salt added to food is to compete on the flavour, but at a cost in health which companies brush under the carpet. Likewise with added sugar.

I'm yet to come across real "smoked" cheese rather than smoke "flavour" cheese :( -- Peter <X-Files fan>

I've come across curry-flavoured pot noodles! Why don't they just use curry in the first place ffs? |
