Odd that, I was under the impression that:
1) Sellers with feedback below 10 could not use the 'Buy Now' facility in
their listings
2) When an auction with buy now item is sold you get the message "This item
was purchased using buy now" on the item page.

Mmm, maybe things have changed. Did you use eBays completed listings or
do you use Terapeak ?

Completed listing search - and it did not show on the list as a 'Buy it now'
listings like buy now listings do.

I used Terapeak, I'll try again, I'm sure I saw 'Buy it Now' somewhere,
I'll do a screen shot.
