What compensation *can* they offer? The US shouldn't need to compensate us. Let's face it, any population that's too stupid to know how to bung a few insulation bats under a roof without killing themselves won't be affected by a virus adversely affecting the brain.

You don't need to be much more than stupid when you can always blame others for your own direct actions and avoid responsibility - so quite a large segment of the Australian population either wouldn't care about getting BSE or would actually welcome it as yet another opportunity to blame someone else for the adverse outcomes of their actions. If anything we don't like actually occurs we can always fall back on what now seems to be the modern Australian whinge: Government protect us from the world we live in; Government protect us from the actions of those around us; Government protect us from our own actions. It isn't difficult to apply at least one of those lines to just about every so-called "issue" these days. -- Regards, David. David Clayton Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
