Yes and yes!

I did mine before Ziphone came out and it took me a couple of hours to
unlock! Since then I did a mates using Ziphone in a just a couple of
minutes, it's so easy anyone could do it!

You won't break it, they say even if the worst happens it can be restored.

Even once unlocked you can still use iTunes to transfer songs, pictures,
movies etc in fact it would be pretty useless if you couldn't! But, once
connect to iTunes then it may offer you firmware updates if your iPhone
doesn't have the latest installed. You can either click "no" and for
convenience change iTunes settings "do not offer me updates" or choose
"yes". That will update the iPhone to latest firmware and it will become
locked again. All you do then is re-unlock with Ziphone.
